Baby Nursery Music Soothing Baby Nursery MusicYou've probably seen baby nursery music in the form of videos and CDs for babies. There are some theories that classical music can make your baby smarter, and exposing your baby to music is part of what we do to introduce them to all the sights and sounds of their world.

The Benefits of Soothing Baby Nursery Music

Baby Nursery Music can definitely help calm your baby down and put him in a restful state at bedtime or nap time. What are some good choices for a baby?

Fisher Price makes an excellent choice of soothing baby nursery music that can be attached directly to the side of the crib.  Some with a simple push button that play music for a long time, and with different sleepy-time sounds such as lullabies, classical music, and different nature sounds.

Artist Providing Soothing Baby Nursery Music

Almost anything you love or use for relaxation is good for a baby too.   There are good collections of Mozart or Bach for bedtime. The music of Enya can be very soothing as well. Georgia Kelly's harp music is also relaxing and peaceful.

When your baby's awake, there are lots of nursery rhymes or music from kids' movies that can stimulate his senses. We've known kids who respond to minimalist Phillip Glass's music; it's simple and rhythmic and when they get older, they'll dance with it. Spirituals and soft gospel music are also good choices to help the baby get to sleep.

White noise, in the form of a fan (not directed right at the baby), or from sound machines that simulate the sound of an ocean or rain can be restful as well, and can block out noise from the home. You don't need to create an artificially silent environment for the baby, however, since that can make it harder for them to get to sleep when the home's rhythms and noises get back to normal.

This is a great time for you to explore classical music as well, if it's not already part of your life. The same baby nursery music that's helping your baby get to sleep can help soothe your own nerves and provide a wonderful time of bonding and restfulness for you and your baby together.

Sony Baby Monitor What You Need To Know About Baby Monitors

There are so many things to consider when you have a new baby in your home.  After all here is a new life that is totally dependent on you for all of its love, care, and protection.   And if you are like most new parents, you want to be as knowledgeable as possible about any product that you are thinking about purchasing for your baby's nursery.

The purpose of this article is to give you what you need to know about baby monitors that will enable you to make an informed decision in choosing the right one for the nursery.

Four basic types of Baby Monitors

:

  • Audio
  • Video
  • Digital
  • Analog

Baby Monitors - Basic Audio Monitor

Your basic audio monitor will provide a way for you to listen to your baby when you can't physically be  in the room.  Your biggest concern will probably be the clarity of sound and the amount of interference.   Since most of these devices are wireless, you could probably pick up noise and interference from anywhere close by your home.  So be sure to read the product details carefully so you can note if it has been addressed.

Baby Monitors - Video Baby Monitor

The next step up from the basic audio monitor is the video baby monitor.  The setup for a video baby monitor can be simple.  Usually the camera is placed in the nursery, and a LCD type monitor is carried by the parent or caregiver.   Many are more sophisticated than the basic video monitor and allow for you to stream a live feed broadcast of your baby 24/7.  So if you are more comfortable in seeing what is going on when you can't be there, then this one is definitely the type you need.

Baby Monitors - Analog Monitors

Analog monitors are powered by a certain frequency band-typically 900-megahertz (MHz) or 2.4-gigahertz (GHz)-much being a radio, sending signals from monitor to receiver in the straight shot.  If the product detail does not mention "digital",  and you cannot find digital anywhere on the packaging, then it is an analog monitor.

Baby Monitors - Digital Monitors

Digital monitors also are powered by specific frequency bands, nevertheless they encode the signal because it travels involving the monitor as well as the receiver, rendering it extremely hard for your sounds being heard by others. Digital also cuts down on chance for running into interference from other gadgets. Though they could look high-tech, many monitors remain analog. To discover a digital monitor, try to find “digital” somewhere around the packaging.

So now that you know the four basic types of Baby Monitors (audio, video, digital, and analog) and a little bit about each, you can use the information as a starting point in determining what type of monitor you would be best for you and your baby.

Baby Nursery How to Introduce Your New Baby to the Nursery

The first day home with a new born baby can be both exciting
and challenging for new parents. Most new parents are
surprised by how big of an adjustment they have to make to
their lifestyle once a new baby enters the picture.

The first month the parents are on the baby’s schedule, and
that usually means feeding the baby every two to three hours
during a 24 hour schedule. The majority of time when the
baby is not eating, the baby prefers to sleep.

It is during that time that you may try to introduce your
new baby to the nursery crib. It is also during that time
that one of the two parents should try to take a nap, while
the other parent prepare for the next feeding, and for
whatever else needs to be done around the house.

The big test will be at night when it is time for both
parents to go to bed. If the nursery has a baby monitor,
then it is OK to place the baby in the nursery. If you do
not have a baby monitor, then it is best to have a bassinet
by your bed for your baby to sleep in. Whatever you do,
resist the urge to have your baby sleep in the bed between
the parents. This is the most unsafe option for the baby.

One surefire way to make life easier during the late night
feeding is to make sure the nursery is as close as possible
to your bedroom. It will save you time and some steps when
you need to see about your baby in the middle of the night.
